Dark Starlight Page 27

I collapse on a patch of sand between the rocks, listening to the waves rolling onto the beach. It’s a soothing sound, as my vision blurs and dims around the edges. The realisation that I’m losing consciousness is sluggish and I try to sit up, but my body feels weighted. I stare at the blurred slice of moon, wondering if this is my end, and finger the pendant around my neck. Perhaps a human will find it once my flesh has turned to foam, and think it a pretty trinket.

Pain lances my wound when I start laughing. Decades of torture and I’m dying by my own blade. Navi will be furious. My laughter fades and I clench my right hand around the pendant, thinking of the silvery scar in my palm. Navi will know through our connection that I’m dying. But we said our goodbyes. He promised he’d do anything for my freedom, and death is the ultimate escape.

Don’t panic! Book 2 is almost finished and won’t be too far behind. Keep going for a note from the author and places to find updates for the Archaic Races Series.

  Note from THE AUTHOR

I really hope you enjoyed the start of my new series. It’s different to the Siren Series, that’s for sure, so I’m praying you’ll like it.

There are more books in the Archaic Races Series and I’m aiming for no cliffhanger endings. But it depends on how sadistic I’m feeling at the time, so sorry in advance.
